Iran Releases British-Australian Academic Imprisoned on Espionage Charges

SYDNEY—Iran released a British-Australian academic imprisoned on espionage charges, ending an ordeal that lasted more than two years and strained diplomatic ties.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the government had been informed late Wednesday of the release of Kylie Moore-Gilbert, a specialist in Middle Eastern politics at the University of Melbourne. He declined to say whether it was part of a prisoner swap.
