Oklahoma World War II veteran celebrates 100th birthday


It’s my 100th birthday. Happy. Hey, dear Raymond. Happy birthday, Thio. Yeah, I wasn’t doing in World War Two. My airplane led the largest air raid during World War Two over Germany. December the 24th, 1944. And I’ve been honored by three presidents for that service.

Community members gathered Friday to celebrate an Oklahoma World War II veteran’s 100th birthday.The celebration took place at OKC’s Westside Lions Club. Staff Sgt. Raymond Duncan served as an Air Force crew chief mechanic while stationed in England during World War II.“I was in World War II. My airplane led the largest air raid during World War II over Germany, Dec. 24, 1944,” Duncan said. “And I’ve been honored by three presidents for that service.”Duncan received a Presidential Unit Citation and Good Conduct Ribbon, among other honors.
