Golf star Tiger Woods was injured in a single-car accident Tuesday morning in Los Angeles County, authorities said.
Woods’ vehicle sustained major damage in the roll-over crash, which occurred around 7 a.m. PT on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. LA County firefighters and paramedics extricated Woods from the vehicle with the “jaws of life.”
Woods was the only passenger in the car and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
According to Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, the 15-time major champion sustained multiple leg injuries in the crash and was undergoing surgery.
The sports world reacted with shock in the wake of the accident, with many expressions of support and prayers pouring in on social media.
