Watch: Donaldson ejected for kicking dirt on home plate after hitting HR

Minnesota Twins third baseman Josh Donaldson was tossed from Thursday’s game against the Chicago White Sox for kicking dirt on home plate after hitting a round-tripper in the sixth inning.

Donaldson was upset with home plate umpire Dan Bellino after a questionable strike call on a 2-0 pitch during the at-bat.

The ejection was Donaldson’s seventh of his 10-year career.

The 34-year-old slugger is the first player to be ejected at home plate after hitting a homer since Ted Simmons in May 1978.
